HYPOPRESSIVES
A Global System of Training
The term ‘HYPOpressive’ refers to a decrease or reduction in internal pressure to the thoracic, abdominal and pelvic areas of the body. Most traditional forms of exercise, such as abdominal exercises, are HYPERpressive, in that they increase internal pressure. The core is designed to function at a subconscious level, allowing for activation during daily tasks as well as when exercising. For example, if you have to run for a bus or pick up a child when they fall over, your core needs to work without you thinking about it.
Hypopressives is a global system of training that re-progammes the core muscles, which are vital to managing pressure both consciously and subconsciously, and increases their resting tone and involuntary function. In other words, the core, including the pelvic floor, starts to work again as it was designed to – without you having to think about it.
The training may help to:
-
Improve symptoms of incontinence
-
Improve Pelvic Organ Prolapse symptoms
-
Restore sexual function
-
Reduce back pain and improve posture
-
Reduce waist size and reveal a flatter stomach
-
Increase abdominal and pelvic floor function
-
Increase metabolism

An initial assessment session is usually followed by up to 5 further sessions. Each session last approximately an hour, though this may vary depending on the needs of the client. It is expected that the client should undertake work at home between sessions in order to gain the most benefits from the work done together.
